It’s another Beat Thursday at GFC. The beats are going, it’s sunny outside, Cheri and Cheryl are busy exciting and communicating with practice members, people are smiling, little children are running around the practice and we are all (doctors, staff and practice members) having fun celebrating life!
I step quickly away from the flow to turn my attention to a practice member who is having a progress assessment today. Here are the changes she has noticed since starting chiropractic care with us and beginning the 30 Day Life By Design Challenge:
-Improved energy
-Better able to handle stress
-Down 5 pounds (she was a “jack show” to begin with)
-No more junk food cravings
This is a typical progress assessment in our office.
As I was congratulating her on her achievements she said, “I’ve told a lot of people about Gainsborough Family Chiropractic and LBD.”
“You took the words out of my mouth,” I said. “I was going to ask you how people you have told about all the amazing things you have experienced have reacted?”
Here comes the shocker. “They all told me it sounded hokey,” she replied.
Huh? Instantly my blood pressure went up.
There was a very cool unspoken moment between the two of us as we shared a moment of frustration. How can something so simple and logical be considered hokey, we both thought?
“What have you been doing?” I asked.
“I’ve been getting my brain – body connection restored and I started eating real food,” she said.
Talk about having a brain explosion.
What the hell is wrong with the world that we live in?
Let me get this straight: A person starts eating real food and having their neurological integrity restored (via the adjustment). They’re healthier and living better and that is hokey to people?
Oh I get it. Would your friends accept that all these were happening to you if you started taking medication and starving yourself? Would that make it less hokey?
It’s sad (or in this instance aggravating) that having a logical, scientific approach to health with actionable steps sounds like a hoax, while more complicated completely illogical steps sound acceptable.
Health is not a mystery. It is very logical, simple and it, like everything in the world, follows the laws of nature.
You can choose to believe that it is more complicated or you can do what we talk about with Life By Design and “do what works.”

So true. This somehow reminds me of a commercial I saw the other day that started with the line "diabetes is complicated". I just laughed. It's really not complicated at all...restore insulin sensitivity by removing sugar and carbs from the diet. Done.
Logic...whats that?!?
